Acer Swift X (AMD) – Best Choice 2022 Portable Light Gaming Laptop ! – CIKIJING.COM

Acer Swift X (AMD) – Best Choice 2022 Portable Light Gaming Laptop !,
At 3.31 extra pounds, the Acer Quick X (begins at $849.99; $1,099.99 as evaluated) is actually 5 ounces as well hefty to become an ultraportable, as well as it is certainly not a video gaming note pad in spite of possessing a relatively game-worthy Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU. Rather, it is a 14-inch laptop computer that provides among the very best cost/efficiency proportions you can easily find—assuming you can easily discover it, because Acer has actually currently revealed a higher-resolution heir along with a 16:10 instead of 16:9 display element proportion. However the Quick X viewed right below deserves browsing out if you desire sufficient energy in a near-ultraportable.

If you’re looking for an ultraportable notebook with an AMD processor, the new Acer Swift X (starts at $849.99; $1,099.99 as tested) could be your dream come true, but the initial cost might be hard to swallow given the processor it’s powered by. On the other hand, if you’re primarily interested in gaming, consider stepping up to the more expensive 15-inch MSI GS65 Stealth Thin (starts at $1,799; $2,199 as tested), which offers more powerful hardware and a bigger screen. Still not convinced?

Full Specifications

Acer Swift X (2019 model) As Tested : 3.2GHz AMD Ryzen 7 3750H; 8GB DDR4 RAM; 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD hybrid storage; Windows 10 Home; Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU with 6GB of GDDR6 memory Two key things separate thin-and-light gaming laptops from regular ultrabooks, including Acer’s excellent and exceptionally popular Swift series.

One is portability—gaming is about performance at any cost, so anything that affects weight matters. And two, well, it’s obvious. Gamers want as much graphical horsepower as they can get in as small a package as possible.

The Acer Swift X comes with a pair of notable compromises, namely an old AMD processor and relatively modest battery life compared to similarly specced competitors like MSI’s GS75 Stealth Thin or Razer’s Blade 15. But if you’re looking for something close to an ultraportable laptop with an discrete graphics card inside, here it is.

Design & Features

Power That Fits In Your Hand : One look at Acer’s new Swift X, and you can tell it’s a thin-and-light laptop. It weighs just 3.31 pounds and is less than one inch thick at its thinnest point. Yet while it has a form factor that usually denotes portability, in terms of gaming performance, it’s most comparable to an Asus ROG Strix GL503GE, our Editors’ Choice for entry-level gaming laptops.

With an Intel Core i7-9750H CPU, 8GB of RAM, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics—similar specs to those found on MSI’s GS65 Stealth Thin 8RF—the Acer Swift X definitely punches above its weight class. You even get dedicated graphics memory despite having integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega M graphics inside—8GB instead of 4GB, like many other budget gaming laptops.

Performance & Graphics

Outfitted with AMD’s eight-core, 1.9GHz (4.4GHz turbo) Ryzen 7 5800U chip processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of PCIe SSD storage, our $1,099.99 review unit was potent enough to play Overwatch on High at 1080p with an average frame rate of 96 frames per second.

It also took only 15 seconds to run Cinebench R15 multithreaded. In comparison, Acer’s Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop scored slightly higher in our labs: 107 fps in Overwatch and 607 points in Cinebench R15.

However, we were expecting faster performance from a 3-pound gaming laptop than one that weighs nearly five pounds — but then again it does cost over twice as much!
Save for its thickness, however, Acer’s swift is anything but sluggish; it blazed through web pages just as quickly as any other computer we’ve tested recently.

Ports & Connectivity

On our review unit, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port, a microSD card reader, and an HDMI port sit on its left side. On its right are an Ethernet jack and another USB 3.1 Gen 1 port, while a power input and another USB 2.0 port sit on its backside.

We wish that Acer had opted for Gigabit Ethernet instead of 10/100Mbps, but we appreciate that it has at least one HDMI output instead of mini DisplayPort—which is often found on laptops with thin bezels like this one. Connecting to external displays via mini DisplayPort is annoying when you need to move your laptop around frequently; doing so via full-size DisplayPort can require adapters or costly cables in order to keep things tidy.

Battery Life

Longer battery life is one of our priorities when we review laptops, as all users want to use their laptop anywhere and everywhere without having to worry about finding an outlet. We run all of our tests in power saving mode, which keeps display brightness and CPU performance low in order to achieve up to 13 hours of runtime on a single charge.

In PCMark 8’s Work Conventional test, which performs typical office tasks like web browsing and video chatting, it lasted 9 hours 10 minutes. However, its endurance dropped to just 3 hours 30 minutes while playing a looped video at full screen with 100 percent volume. That’s not terrible compared with other thin gaming notebooks that usually clock between 2 to 4 hours maximum—but definitely keep your charger handy if you have some long travel plans in mind.

Value & Conclusion

Acer’s Swift 7 is one of our favorite ultraportables, but it doesn’t have a discrete GPU, which means gaming and other graphically intensive tasks aren’t an option. The Acer Swift 5 was an equally attractive package in early 2018 with Nvidia MX150 graphics, but that model has since been discontinued.

That makes Acer’s new 14-inch Swift X a highly desirable combination of thin and light design coupled with a moderately powerful discrete GPU from AMD. For $1,100 (as tested), you get specs typically found on laptops three times as expensive: Full HD IPS display, quad-core processor, 16GB RAM and 1TB PCIe SSD.

It even has a USB Type-C port for fast charging and data transfer.
The Swift 5 is more affordable at $999, but it only comes in an aluminum chassis; both it and Acer’s Aspire S13 feature less powerful GeForce MX150 graphics chips.
